They are completely demolishing Belk. The footprint and setup of Belk was VERY ineffective. I am glad it is coming down. Long time needed.

Default A Few New Developments (Some maybe already have been posted)

Minges Coliseum Scoreboard
Project will replace the existing scoreboards and monitors in Minges Coliseum with a center hung, square video board. Structural evaluation will be required to determine if existing structure can support the load of the new board. Budget $3,000,000. This is great news. I think this will open the doors for more events to be held in the coliseum.

ECU School of Dental Medicine
4th Floor Fit-up Phase I: This project is the first of two or three projects that will fit-up the 4th floor of Ross Hall (2012, 188,000 square feet, four-story) which houses the School of Dental Medicine (SODM). This project will create research and office space to support the overall SODM’s accreditation process. The total cost to fit-up the 47,000 square-foot 4th floor is estimated to be $7,100,000. This Phase I project is expected to fit-up 23,000 square-feet of the 47,000 square feet, is estimated to cost $4,892,526, will be funded from carry forward funds, and will be complete by August 2015.

PCC
Goess Student Center (Addition)

Addition to the Goess Student Center located on the main campus of Pitt Community College - Addition will house the college bookstore, career services, and a student study center, mechanical rooms, data rooms, restrooms. Budget $3,200,000.

Finally! Anything is better then the projectors they have in the corners right now. You can hardly see what they are showing on them. Before the practice facility was built, I don't think any concert or event would be able to be held there because of it being used for the men's and women's basketball teams practices. Now there might be a possibility for it to be used for other events, which would be great for those who live in Greenville.

ECU will be getting 150 new jobs, due to the state budget slashing funding for the Infant Toddler Program offices in New Bern, Rocky Mount and Wilmington.

This is good for Greenville & ECU, but bad for those other cities.

The Baptist Campus Ministry building which is located due east of the old Wendy's on 10th Street is being sold to ECU. This is to make room for the new Student Union.

Wow...$775K plus guaranteeing them space in the new center...seems steep.

Have to wonder how much the McDonald's Building is going to cost at some point.

I know ECU owns the Wendy's site...is there any others on 10th St that ECU has purchased so far?

they also own the Mexican joint that is beside Parking & Transportation (which needs a new building as well). They only lack the FedEx Kinkos & McDonalds on that strip. That McDonalds spot is going to cost $Texas.

You are right, it seems VERY steep. I am not a real estate guy, but Pitt County list the value for the 0.66 acre site at $182,774 for the building and $115,000 for the land. They have the Total 2011 Market Value at $388,525.

Wendy's and its 0.69 acre site, had a Total 2011 Market Value of $493,234, yet the sales price was $1,100,000.
_______
East Carolina owns everything north of 10th Street from the TKE house (on the eastern end) to Evans, EXCEPT:
  • Kinkos:
Parcel A, 0.17 acres (Total Current Market Value: $211,574)
Parcel B, 0.17 acres (Total Current Market Value: $75,000)
  • McDonald's: 0.81 acres (Total Current Market Value: $858,421)

Luckily, I BELIEVE, we won't need McDonald's for the Student Union/parking deck expansion. But the school wants to buy it. That will be one of the first thing people using the 10th St connector will see of Main Campus.

I think/assume P&T will get new offices in the "back operations" building they are discussing. Along with IT, accounting and stuff like that.

If that McDonald's ever moves, it won't go far. Probably either to where Scott's Cleaners was, or maybe if it could replace the gas station/small strip mall next to Krispy Kreme. And you can bet ECU will have to pick up the entire tab, plus extra. I wouldn't think McDonald's wouldn't want to do away with that building before 2025, at the very least.
