Also - noticed they are tearing down building(s) behind the Starbucks / Subway building on 10th street near campus (beside Sheetz). Not sure if there will be future development planned for that area or if they are just getting rid of dilapidated buildings (which is fine as well).
The sign does look great! However, according to the renderings the corner by the Boundary was supposed to be more like a Plaza with a flower bed in the corner by the street. That would have looked better than the walls that have been constructed in this photo. Also, maximize the photo and take a look at those traffic islands. They look horrendous! Maybe the city could make that into one big traffic island and put in a flower bed there. I'm sure the city is reluctant to do that kind of thing due to the maintenance that would be required, though. It would improve the looks of that corner tremendously and also make it much more interesting.

The islands are sectioned off like that to allow the crosswalks to pass thru and remain ADA. It would probably look better if they just cemented the interiors instead of putting in landscaping that never gets tended.

Landscaping wouldn't have to go untended. Some cities have areas they landscape and pay to have tended. Whether Greenville wants to pay for something like that, I don't know. Even if the city doesn't want to pay for landscape maintenance, there are other options. Garden clubs, for example.

The reason the current traffic islands look so horrible is because they are trashy and unkempt.

Wasn't able to snap a pic, but wanted to let everyone know that The Blackened Kraken (replaced Varsity Club) is open for business on 5th St. with some really good looking signage out front and on the side of the building. Great addition aesthetically, hope that the food is good as well.

I know it says the 2nd, but the first Saturday of October is the 3rd.

There is commercial type construction going on at the southwest corner of Old Tar and Vernon White Rd in Winterville. The Jehovahs Witnesses bought the property back in Nov of 2013 so presumably, they're building a facility/church there.

There has been a sign up at the southeast corner of Memorial and Chapman Rd threatening a shopping center for a long time now. This property was sold in July to Amerco Real Estate Co of Phoenix AZ. They have now put their own sign up threatening impending development of that corner. Amerco builds self storage facilities. They also provide real estate and development services to U-Haul. AMERCO Real Estate Company

They paid $3,225,000 for the lot.

If it's a Jehovah's Witness church, it'll be built and in full operation by tomorrow.

JW apparently does all of their own work. They don't hire contractors. It may be 10 years before they finish this based on what's happened so far.
