I have a notion that this will just make that street worse, but I guess it doesn't matter since there's no real way to improve traffic flow on the Blvd.

Default Lidl #1009, 1800 East Fire Tower Road, Greenville, North Carolina 27858-4133

It appears Lidl is coming to Greenville. Store 1009 is planned to locate at 1800 East Fire Tower Road, Greenville, North Carolina 27858-4133. ("Lidl #1009." LDI-Line.)

Interesting. It will probably do well. Aldi has a dedicated set of shoppers that I don't believe are dedicated to Aldi as a brand but just like what they sell. Aldi is kind of out of the way, and this will be in a prime location.

Lidl #1009, a discount grocer, will compete against traditional supermarkets Food Lion #1291 (Turnbury Sqaure, 1914 Turnbury Drive, Greenville, North Carolina 27858-6167) and Harris Teeter #287 (Bell's Fork, 2120 East Fire Tower Road, Greenville, North Carolina 27858-8013).

Isn't it just like an Aldi? I don't consider Aldi as competing with Teeter. It's possibly the furthest possible concept from a Teeter.

Yes, Lidl and Aldi are discount grocers and rivals.

Property acquisition for NC TIP U-5006 (Firetower Road extension) is scheduled to begin in 2020 and the project is not currently funded.
The DOT site lists three high priority projects in the SW bypass, Evans widening and Firetower Ext. Obviously the 10th St Connector project is under construction.

Perusing the DOT website, I did find a map of projects approved between 2016 and 2025. The Firetower Rd widening from Charles to Portertown and Portertown to Hwy 33 is listed, however it is not listed for ROW Acq until 2025. Project cost is $23 million.

The Evans widening is listed for 2023 for $37 million.

An interesting project listed is Memorial Drive at 5th St intersection in 2018 for $2.2 million and the bridge replacement on Memorial over the Tar River for about 700K, also in 2018...that may be some sort of bridge re-surfacing for that price.

There are a couple of minor road bridge replacements as well.

That's it...so you would have to assume anything else on that list will come after 2025.

Quick note, the Trollingwood Brewery will open on 12/17 on Dickinson Ave.

Trollingwood Brewery

A nano brewery in the historic Dickinson Avenue business district of downtown Greenville is scheduled to open at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Trollingwood Taproom and Brewery, at 707 Dickinson Avenue, will be Greenville’s only microbrewery concept. Beer made on site will be served in the taproom from 4 p.m.-midnight Thursdays-Fridays, 1 p.m.-midnight Saturdays and 1-6 p.m. Sundays.

The small-batch craft beers will be created using local ingredients when possible, the owners say.

Owner and brewer Grayson Williams is an East Carolina University graduate who formerly worked at Farmville’s acclaimed Duck-Rabbit Brewery. He’s joined in the venture by his childhood friend Bobby Schultz, who also graduated from ECU, and Thomas Taft of Greenville.

The building housing Trollingwood dates back to 1924 and has been completely renovated through adaptive-reuse of as many materials as possible.
