I didn't realize that construction on the new ECU building will begin in November. Parking in that area is really going to be hard for staff until the student center parking deck is open.

Interesting concepts. Not sure how successful this will be. Just seems like they're trying to do too much. The 25+ lounge would probably have been better suited in the Dickinson area, IMO.

Glad to hear the ECU building is starting in November. Evans Street is starting to fill in nicely.

Very interesting piece of info in that article:

"Ordinance requested by Glenn Arthur LLC to rezone 4 acres along the northern right-of-way of East 14th St. between Charles Boulevard and Cotanche Street from downtown commercial fringe and neighborhood commercial to downtown commercial-urban core overlay."

Hmmm...that's a 2 block area that includes houses and the former Jolly Roger gas station site.

Might want to keep an eye on what's planned there.

^ If it involves tearing down the Jolly Roger & buying / tearing down the houses behind that gas station...it will be unbelievably awesome! That area is a prime spot that is currently a mess.

November of 2017 makes absolutely no sense. I don't believe architectural plans have been done yet nor a contractor hired to do this project. Not only that, I suspect there might be a student riot if parking in those lots was taken away before the new student union parking deck is opened. I also suspect if this project starts in November, it will be November 2018. It is possible I could be wrong, though.

^ that would make a lot more sense to me personally. Unless by construction they mean tearing down some of those houses left over there
