yes, the Harris Teeter by campus is terrible. I remember when it was built long, long ago it was nice. Now it's probably worse than a Food Lion store & tiny. The shopping cart / bagger guy that has been there since like 1990 is the man though. He's a good worker.

Someone posted a few weeks ago that they had a building permit to expand and/or remodel. The closing may be related to that.

The service there has really gone downhill in the past year though. Sales may have reflected that.

Even if Publix arrival in Greenville is 2-4 years away, they could still go ahead and purchase their locations. Bells Fork is a successful business area in Greenville. There's everything right in Publix securing a spot there first. I imagine by the time they come to town, they'll have 3 or 4 locations planned for Greenville/Winterville.

2. The Landing has been sold!

And, older news. Not sure this has been shared on this forum.

Does anyone know what is going on in the shopping center on S Memorial near the Mi Cabana and Burger King? There has been a small building that has been vacant for a long time, and now there is a large addition going up. My secret hope is for a Smithfields, but have no proof!

If memory serves me right didn't we have a Smithfield's in the late 80s? It was in the "fast food row" at the corner of Memorial and Stantonsburg.

Edit: yes we did, it was where Captain D's is now. Looked in an old phone book.
