Had a roof replaced. The guy charged $17,000.00. (7,000 over what is quoted)He was suppose to leave a itemized bill, but said he had to type it out. Never came back and won't return my call.He was paid. Who would I report this to? He does local work.

Call the bbb...if you paid with a cc you can dispute the charges otherwise I would call the roofer, leave a message saying that you have contacted the local news station and they are willing to do a "scam" report on him unless he returns the phone call and the 7k. I would alert your neighbors. You could always sue him in small claims court.

You should list this guy on www.axelist.com so people are aware of this rotten egg in the community.

Let me get this straight. Some roofer quoted you $10k for a roofing job, did said work, then gave you a final bill of $17k?......and you paid him?

You need to give us more information here. 1st of all, how big is this roof? What materials were used? Was it a total rip job (stripping the entire roof and starting new) I'd like to know why the roofer nearly doubled the original quote. Obviously something is not right here.
