Ogden area vs Leland
We are moving to the area and are deciding between the ogden area or leland area. Any thoughts: schools, family area, safe...ect. Thanks for any help in our decision.

I would live in ogden before leland. ogden has better schools, you don't have to deal with bridge traffic, closer to the beach, and closer to mayfaire.

I have lived in both and prefer Leland over Ogden. The Ogden area is over-crowded and the traffic on Market St. to get there is insane. Home prices are also much more expensive in Ogden. According to stats, the schools in Ogden are ranked better, but I think it is only a matter of time before Leland catches up. I work in downtown Wilmington and cross the Cape Fear bridge daily. In the past year, I have only been stuck in traffic because of the bridge about 4 times. It takes me 10 minutes to get to work from Leland. If you choose Leland, I would choose the southern section (off 133 south). That is where I live and it is much nice compared to the older section of Leland (Village Rd./Lincoln school district).

Ogden!!! Leland is nice, lots of new stores and business but it's the bridge traffic...

Definitely Ogden! Everything is better there than Leland.

It depends. Schools may be better in Ogden, however your property taxes will be lower in Leland. Your children can go to privates, which may be a deciding factor. Don't have all your particulars. Where are you coming from and what are you use to and what is it that you are looking for?
Is there a relocation package with this move regarding a company transfer.

Choose based on where you'll be commuting most often. Both commutes into Wilmington can suck horribly but that will vary based upon what time you are coming through the areas. I'd choose Leland but that's because I have more interests in that side of town and I hate Mayfaire. Ha.
Schools... why not any schools in the middle? New Hanover County has a few really stellar schools.

I LOVE MAYFAIRE!! Think it is so wonderful to be outside and be able to walk and shop at nice stores and have choices of restaurants right there! I think it is a great addition to the area and more convenient for so many of us than the mall or downtown Wilmington.

Thanks for the response, We are coming from the cape in mass. We are looking for the nice, family oriented area for our kids. A little out of the way but close enough.
