poodlecamper is on a distinguished road
Default Southport/Oak Island--South Harbour Village

We visited as they were building this community, but it's been awhile. I hope some of you out there can answer a few questions ---DH and I are looking to retire in the area. I love the homes (rather than condos) and the location. So--what are the HOA fees and how are the property taxes? Are the majority of homes occupied (as opposed to rental or second homes). Is there a "neighborhood" feeling, with groups for quilting, etc? What would be the expected cost to store a small boat or RV ? I realize realtors can answer some of these questions, but residents can give the real scoop on an area. We'll be in Myrtle Beach in August and will be coming up to look around. From 1989 to 2005 we vacationed there every year, first renting on the beach, then in our camper until the campground closed
Jobs won't be an issue, although DH may want to work part-time. We're average, middle-class people who are looking for nice people, nice weather and a relaxing life-style. Thanks for any help/advice--the good or the bad!!
