i agree about a couple of dog breeds that need to be banned, COCKER SPANIELS AND LABS!!!!

have been attacked by both on the beach , my rottie has been attacked by lots of other dogs also and i am with you on the wish for people to obey the leash laws.

i am a rottie owner and would love to hear the excact details on " all" those rotties that have turned on their owners around the age of eigth? please provide them.

i do not like when generalizations are thrown around like that without back up.
lots of dogs bite , irregardless of the breed .

I was wondering what type of season do you see no one picking up dog poop and letting the dog off leash. I lived on Oak Island for 2 years and notice it mostly out of towners that not obiding the rules. I have let my dog off the leash before on that beach so she can swim in the ocean and always pick up her poop. I usually never let her off the leash when their is alot of people at the beach and if there is some people in one section I go down further. I have two small children at the time and they play at the beach all the time and would get mad for people not picking up poop since my kids plays there but my kids never encounter any poop while playing on the beach. I did encounter a small shark swimming up to shore on the beach last year when visiting. I really think it is not the local that is doing this because remember Oak Island is Vacation Rental Island.

I think I might have stated it funny by meshing news stories I have read about rottweilers turning on their owners or their kids out of the blue (no provocation) and one example I had in my mind. I don't mean it's known to happen when the dogs are around 8, I meant it's known to happen, period. 8 has nothing to with it in particular, 8 is about how the dog was in the case I know about, where I know the dog owner who got rid of the Rott. She had the dog since a puppy and it never did anything and one day, it turned on her and started to viciously attack- she beat the dog off with a broom or something and got in the house, and I am not sure if she called a rescue group, animal control, or just had a friend who was willing to take in the dog- I don't know what happened, just that she was afraid the dog would turn o her kids or someone else some time. The dog did not seem to have a temperament change or illness, just came after her. (I know the person now, I did not know her then). I found out in the context of conversation because I know another person who had the SWEETEST dog who lived to old age, and that dog was an absolute baby..I did not even realize it was a Rottweiler. He was an indoor dog, would sit at your feet for hours being petted.

Bit in reading the news over the years, stories would probably show up in Google from various local newspapers all over, I have heard a lot of stories about Rotts (no particular age in general) (and not just Rotts, other breeds as well- the two I fear doing this are Pit Bulls and Rotts, and one other breed I am not fond of because I have been attacked by one, is German Shepard). I would be too worried about it to want one around my kids, even if we adopted it as the youngest puppy possible and raised it with lots of nurturing and love and attention, I would still worry.

Some more breeds that I don't want off leash around my kids- too many to list, because you never know- people should follow leash laws! I love dachshunds, they're precious, but they are snappy...I've had 3, I know. Normally, it's relatively understandable and preventable- they can be snappy to strange kids and people trying to pet them when they have a bone. I will never forget the story, and I am SURE this would be easily findable in Google, of the family dachshund that killed a very young baby by tearing through a playpen. Dogowner should not have thought the baby would be ok unsupervised in a playpen anyway, with a dog around.

Loads of little dogs are snappish..lots of big dogs come after kids...etc

If this were such a dire area, I doubt they would have had funding to build.
Actually I have been very busy this year, more so than last, some Buyers see the value of this market, and the future investment their purchases will produce. Every market is local, and it appears you have a dislike of Realtors. I do not know what your profession is, but I actually enjoy mine, and assisting others seeking to relocate to the area. Since you are not a Realtor, and do not live here, your opinions once again are not based on facts.
Actually many people on this forum have relocated to the area, or purchased second homes, so I guess they are lumped into what you have classified as uneducated consumers.
Please stay in Wilmington we only want nice, well rounded folks here, who know what they are talking about. If you have a beef with Realtors, than that is your problem to sort out.
