Does anyone know of an inexpensive place to stay in or near Corolla? There will be 7 of us and we don't need a whole week, just 4 days. Please, Please, Please help if you can. We will be there from 8/6/09 - 8/10/09.

There is a Hampton Inn in Corolla. As it is, I believe, the only hotel in Corolla, it is probably going to be the only place where you can get a room / rooms for a 4-day stay in August, as pretty much all of the houses are weekly rentals.

Then again, if the rental companies have lost a lot of renters due to the crappy economy, you might be able to find one willing to cut you a deal and give a partial week rental (as opposed to letting a property sit completely vacant for an entire week). Can't hurt to call a few and ask.

There are plenty of partial week rentals out there this year. Do a search for "Outer Banks Rentals". I was looking at it a week ago and saw plenty of stuff.

I feel like Corolla is more expensive than other areas. I stayed at the Ramada in Kill Devil Hills last year and it was clean and comfy. Best of all, it was right on the beach.

Yes, Corolla (and to a lesser extent, Duck) is a slightly more expensive area than is the stretch of Kill Devil Hills / Nags Head that runs down the 16 or so mileposts of the main drag.
