i don't know how much there is to tell. there id not much in pamlico county. in fact, locally it's referred to as "the county". of course it's beautiful there and all your basic needs can be taken care of locally. you'd have to travel into new bern via the hwy or take the ferry over to cherry branch from minesott beach to go to morehead city to shop major retailers. what exactly do u want to know?

Let me put it this way. My daughter's boyfriend's father just bought 400 acres in Arapahoe for deer hunting.
To me that is great, but that illustrates, for you, the rural nature of Arapahoe. I would say New Bern, small town with basic to good services is 25 minutes away, Greenville, with most all services is probably a little over an hour. Pamlico County is very rural and water centric.
I would love to have a nice, new house there, but I love to hunt and fish. If your tasts are more cosmopolitan, and you want high culture, close to where you live, you are out of luck. I am not sure there is even a Wally in Pamlico county, again, a plus to many. THere is a pretty good community college near Arapahoe, so if you have an educational jones, you will be in good shape.

thanks,
that's the kind of place my husband will love, we bought land on the water there so he can have his boat in the water. We are looking for a quieter place to live, tired of all the city noise, and don't mind driving a bit to get to the stores.

We rode over that way this afternoon, just behind a mega storm. Most fields were flooded as were roads. Make sure you build in a higher area.
I could not find any signage about Caraway Cove. We rode down both sides of Bairds Creek, even went down to the big camp, but did not see anything.
We found a couple of upscale log cabins, near the creek, on a very new asphalt road, but that is about it.
I want to make sure you understand how desolate that area is. I do not think Arapahoe even has a gas station. It looks like the bank is closed and building for lease. The three way intersection that is what I guess is the center of Arapahoe was bout 8 inches underwater from the storm.
Oh, just after the storm we saw, in rapid succession, a herd of deer, a flock of turkey, and a bear. Think we passed a dead coyote in the road. Several rabblits and turtles. Surprisingly, no snakes. With EVERYTHING flooded, I would have thought we would have seen some trying to gain the high ground.
I expect New Bern is more like 25 minutes from Arapahoe proper, but a very easy drive.
Good Luck.

As I'm sure you know Caraway Cove is a relatively new development. From what I know about the developer the typical client they market to is either someone looking for a long term investment or someone looking to buy the land now and wait 3/5/10+ years before they start building. There's no way to predict how quickly homes will start coming out of the ground in a neighborhood when the developer is selling just the land but you need to be aware going in that you might be the only home in the neighborhood for a while. I've worked with/for a number of different land developers in the area and that's typical how it goes. I hope that helps and Pamlico county is truly a unique part of the world.

PMCRES, I am the Vice President of the Caraway Cove HOA and I am building a 2 story log cabin there. There is also another log cabin already complete and a country style home about to be constructed. We have a very nice group of people in our community and would love having you. All the roads have just been paved and street signs put up. There will be a Caraway Cove sign put up in the near future. If you are interested there are still a few lots left. You can call 800-732-6601 and tell Stacy that Kenny said to give you a good deal. Let me know if you need anything.
