Hi.

I just moved to the New Bern area (between New Bern and Cherry Point) and noticed several furniture stores in the area of Rt 70. I'm on a limited budget and would like to know where to shop for reasonable and reliable living room furniture at the best price. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The Red Shed in Goldsboro has the best prices that I've seen. They're in the book.

the biggest thing to remember, w/ furniture especially, the prices are always negotiable. Check the furniture place that's right by Big Lots near the intersection of US70 and US17. Also, the furniture place on the east side of Havelock behind Sonic's Drive-In. Shopping around is the best option, evne pretending. it's amazing what kind of deals you can get when it looks like you're about to walk away

In furniture, like most things, you get what you pay for. Lots of furniture that my look nice, is built on rickety, low quality frames. Yeah, it is cheap, but it will not hold up.

We recently had an antique chair recovered. The guys first question was how old is the chair. He stated that he would not touch a piece of furniture that was less than 15 years old. I am sure that is a bit of hype, but his point was that so much of it is so cheaply made, it really cannot be recovered.

Good Luck.
