I just returned from picking a daughter up at a friend's house in Taberna. Did not see a single FOR SALE sign either going in or leaving (different way).
I am no big fan of Taberna, but that to me was pretty impressive. The historical area where I live is FULL of houses for sale.
Thought those eyeing New Bern or specifically, Taberna, would want to know.
For you Yankees...noticed five or six mixed couples playing golf at 5:00 pm. On February 27th. OH YEAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Bern, NC is very much a close knit and open arms welcoming community. They have that ole fashioned Southern Hospitality that is sure to make even the most shyest of people feel welcome. Any city really in the South is the place to be. You might consider checking out a website info-nc.com as they have a lot of NC information on the entire state. You might also consider checking here at City-Data.com as they also have a ton of information that might be of interest to you.
Good luck and Welcome to NC, when you get here.

You know, I was thinking about this last night, and possibly they have some sort of covenant that prohibits signs in yards. We passed a tremendous number of houses not to have one for sale. Just wanted to add this comment, in the interest of full disclosure.

Taberna
LLN, I do know that there are many homes for sale in Taberna and you are right that they don't allow for sale signs in the yards. Same with Carolina Colours where I have a lot that I'm trying to sell. If you go to one of the web sites like NBRE.COM and select Taberna, you can see som nice homes for fairly reasonable prices.

My husband & I looked at quite a few towns along the coast in NC to retire. We knew that Oriental was the one for us when we started comparing everywhere else to Oriental.

Why the New Bern Bashing? I've seen negative comments on at least 3 different threads.
