Hi Retirein11 - we moved to Indigo Lakes last month, and love it. So far, we are the only inhabited house in our section, but there is one home that has been finished and sold and 2 others under construction. What street are you on, we are on Bluebell Trace off of Delft. I love it here, everyone is so friendly. Have made some friends here in the Colours already, I feel like I'm living in a small town within a small town. Next time you come to town, come have a glass of wine on our deck, we are at the end of the cul-de-sac.

I finally found out why the police park their cars on the streets of Taberna and the Colours... I have one on my cul de sac as I type, so I asked him. They are not allowed to take cars outside city limits, and Taberna was and now Colours is the most outlaying city area if you are traveling home to Havelock and points east. Also, parking downtown is at a premium, this way they don't have to worry about a parking place. They've been doing this for years, and as the city limits move, so do the police cars.

Default Indigo Lakes

Hey Silty1,
Wow, a neighbor!!!! We will be in section 1 on Lapis Court (lot 18). We wanted to come down this weekend for all the happenings but life here is just too busy with our jobs here in northern Va.. We came down last year for Thanksgiving and are considering another trip for this one.
Our goal is to retire in January of 2011 (hence the retirein11), sell the house and move to New Bern. We may rent for a year while we build our home. Can't wait.
Which builder did you go with? Were you happy with them? We keep looking for updated info but the Carolina Colours web site always has the same old stuff and not much in the way of progress reports. Good to know that Indigo Lakes is finally taking shape.
A glass of wine on the deck sounds great. It would be nice to meet you and get caught up on whats really going on in Carolina Colours!

Default Carteret County...

You may want to consider Carteret County...Nice areas to live within minutes of Cherry Point...Only 58,000 in the whole county...beaches, watersports, shopping, etc...

Kimbill,
My husband and I are in the same boat. We have 3 kids and are relocating to the south from NEPA. I fell in LOVE with New Bern after looking at other places in NC. I also have a daughter who is 7 and two other little kids. I'm very nervous about the big move but very excited at the same time. Please keep in touch and let me know any other helpful details as I will do the same. We are looking in the Trent Woods area, however I did look at Carolina Coulors when we were in town. We will be traveling down there again next week to look at more property. I can't wait! Good Luck!

Don't listen to those people. New Bern is a great little town. I know, I lived there, and went to school for 16 years.

I promise you it is a great town to raise a family.

Folks, I lived in New Bern for 16 years, I have 4 daughters ages 10,11,15, and 17. I worked at Taberna Golfing Community for two years, and I always saw the empty parked police cars in the neighborhood...Why would someone have to park an empty police car in a nice neighborhood? You can answer that for yourselves...When your in New Bern take a drive by Grover C Middle School, drive by New Bern High at 3pm, drive by the other Middle school at 3pm....Then on some day come down to Cape Carteret and drive by Croatan High School, Bogue Sound Elementary, Broad Creek Middle School, and White Oak Elementary....You can then develop your own informed opinion...

If a commute to Cherry Point is your main concern, I can be at the front gate of Cherry Point in 30-35 minutes...Two Stop lights from Cape Carteret to Cherry Point...I drive it 4 days a week....

Folks with children and those looking for a peaceful area, it is your decision where you want to live, but I say, I think you should be considering Cape Carteret, Swansboro, Cedar Point, and any point to Morehead City and Newport

Crime statistics back this up, NC State school grading standards back this up....and a drive this way, I believe will back this up...And I have never seen an empty parked police car in any of the neighborhoods here in Cape Carteret

Well, we lived there for 16 years and never locked our door, At night or in the day. Never had a problem with crime....never saw any crime. Most is black on black in the projects.
