ok so i'm moving to the wilmington area in august and have to set up the electricity before i can sign the lease. after doing so, the electric company tells me to stay on the line, and transfers me to what i thought was time warner. they say i get a discount if i sign up now for my internet, sounds like a deal and i can change it if i need to, so they say.

so i get an email from allconnect. saying that my RRlite internet is going to be $35. this does not seem like 'a deal'.

first off, what the heck is allconnect? are they completely screwing me over? Is allconnect something that other people use in the area? should i try to cancel it and just call time warner or AT&T?

i hope some of ya'll can help!

As an update, i finally was able to cancel whatever i had through allconnect. looks like i'll be able to get the same internet for $20 bucks a month. as opposed to the $35/mo.

from what i can tell allconnect is a middleman that 'at no cost to the consumer' connects the consumer to all the utilities in the area, so you can basically comparison shop at one place instead of flipping back and forth between two or three places. they also claim that they get you better deals, but since they are paid by the utilities to dole out their services it would seem that in the end the customer pays for them anyways.
