How do these beaches compare to Wrightsville Beach?

More families, fewer young/college-age kids

Oh, good! That's good news! I wanted a beach community and Wrightsville's out of my price range right now but Carolina Beach has a couple I can look at when I come visit in a few days.

I really like Carolina Beach as opposed to Wrightsville. It has more of a beachy feel. I didn't like WB because it was a little confusing.

I prefer Kure beach out of Carolina or Wrightsville.

I do not know to much about Wrightsville so i can not say much, but Carolina just gets on my nerves. To me it is good for the Brits doughnuts and a few other things, but there are just to many people for my liking.

Kure is more family oriented. You have about 7 or so small motels that are privatly owned and everything is all in one small part of the beach. The pier is great also. Plus, you do not have to pay to park anywhere in the town, so its a huge plus. If you drive a little further, you get to Fort Fisher and the beaches around there.

I'm heading down to Wilmington soon to look at Carolina and Kure beaches myself. It would increase my commute time to downtown a bit, but I think it's worth it. I'm used to living in dense metropolitan areas (Columbus, OH and Northern NJ) so a 1/2 hour commute is nothing.

Good luck!

Curly, I feel the same way. I live in Vegas so I'm used to all drive times being longer. I love the idea of being able to go home to a beach community. I'm looking at Sarasota, FL as well.
