Hello all:

I lived for a brief period of time in Baltimore, and boy do I miss a big pile of steamed blue crabs on newspaper served with a cold beer! Are they readily available along the coast in the Wilmington/Carolina/Wrightsville/Kure Beach area? If so, can anyone point me to a good restaurant that serves them? Thanks!

Actually, the Seaview Crab Company on Carolina Beach Rd has had quite a lot of live crabs for at least the last several weeks. I was just there for some Spots last night and saw them. The jimmies are pretty big, too. Problem is, they won't steam them for you, at least not yet, though they say they'll be adding the equipment to do it soon. Cant wait!

I don't know of any restaurants that serve crabs but there are places you can buy and take home. Blackburn Brothers and Carolina Seafood (both in Carolina Beach) sell crabs and Carolina Seafood will cook them for you.

In Wilmington, check out Greenville Loop Seafood (uncooked).

It's probably best to call a day or two ahead of time...that way, you know they will have them.

Enjoy!
