Default Restaurant Recommendations in Buxton/Hatteras & Beaufort/Morehead City

I will be in the Buxton / Hatteras area for a night later this summer and was looking for recommendations for places to eat dinner. We are not looking for something too touristy, just good local offerings.

Also, we will be taking the Ocracoke to Cedar Island ferry later that week. It looks like we will go through Beaufort, Morehead City, etc on our drive back home and we would like to stop somewhere around there. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to grab dinner in the Beaufort area as well? Thanks!

Also, it does not necessarily have to be all seafood...we will be getting our fair share of that earlier and later in the week.

I have recommended the Spouter Inn to a number of city data folks, and as far as I know everyone has enjoyed it. You get to dine on the water.

It is one of our favorite places in Beaufort.

Thanks...that is one we had heard about and are leaning towards for dinner. I also found a good site with info about all the OBX restaurants and you can sort by town. Pretty informative...

The Sandbar & Grille is one of our favorites. We hit it pretty much every time we're on Hatteras Island. It's located soundside in Buxton. Hit it later in the day and you can eat while watching the sun set over the sound.

Not sure if they're "touristy" or not, but in Beaufort I enjoy:

Beaufort Grocery Restaurant - Main
www.aquaexperience.com
and
www.frontstreetgrillatstillwater.com

In Morehead City:
Shepard's Point
Windansea
and
WILLIAM'S

The OP above covered the best of the best; I would add The Spouter to the Beaufort listings, though. Not so much for lunch, but certainly for dinner.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I will post up after our trip w/ our experiences.

Also, does anyone know anything about Poor Richard's Sandwich Shop in Manteo? We are looking for a place to have lunch during the week in either Manteo or Nag's Head on our way from Raleigh to Hatteras.

Other viable options look like Sam & Omie's in Nags Head or Top Dog Cafe in Waves (little further south towards Hatteras).

We just came back from our beach week and we ate at Cafe Zito in Morehead City at Ardenell & 11th St. It is in a century house. Very cosey and very delicious! I would highly recommend. Run by a husband & wife and well worth the stop.
