Just to update this thread a new and high bridge is almost done going into the Sunset Beach area.
The wooden bridge will be done away with soon. There are some pictures posted in another thread here of the bridge.
Sad to say I loved the old bridge going one way into Sunset Beach. But, I guess the new one will provide more safety and a better arrangement with boats.

I thought I'd add my 2 cents to this even though this is an older thread. With regard to Sunset Beach (SSB), I'm a mainland resident and I'm afraid SSB is becoming a victim of its own appeal. It's become very crowded in the summer time, almost to the point where I think about selling my property and move elsewhere. As a former resident of the Outer Banks, I would consider moving back there, except for personal family considerations (most of my children and grandkids live in the Triad and Charlotte area).
