I'll spare you the long drawn out version and simply ask. What is the current state of and outlook for the areas listed in the title in the Jacksonville area {within 50 miles}? We are looking to earn approximately $45-55k a year combined minimum, preferably with the flexibility to take two one week vacations per year.

Jacksonville, NC. I know there are a few slots on a rotating basis on base but IDK that he's okay with only working for the DoD, especially since alot of the jobs on coastal bases seem to fall under the 24/7/365 emergency recall rules {based on what's currently available in the area on the gov. employment site}

Thank you very much for your response. I'm assuming you have a good handle on the local economy as it is rather crucial to your own success, so I will ask you. In your experience, are the companies in the area looking for degreed installers or union/OTJ trained? Both are currently options here and from what I've read would be options there as well.

HVAC work here is of he Journeyman level, BUT you basically do not have union shops....The pay is good, the work is busy, busy, busy...You could also work for one of the contractors at Camp Lejeune servicing base housing and such....NC is a right to work state...Unions are good, or can be...but from what Ive seen, I had the AC man to my house for 45 mins, $150 an hour, and that may be just for the first hour....but the money is there...Try calling Humphry's heating and air....they are a large commercial operation in Jville....
