Well, for starters, there is Wilmington, Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kure Beach. There are quite a few, I would get a state map and check it out, and google the towns that look interesting. There is always Bald Head Island.

For a young 23 year old couple? Nags Head? I'm 26 and could live in a quiet beach community for teh rest of my life, but I don't think your average 20 ish couple would like it.

I would recommend Wilmington area beach towns for you to be honest. Nags Head is wonderful, and so is Kitty hawk, but once the tourists leave it turns into a very quiet place. You need to define, "things to do"..... Do you like clubs, music, arts, having people your own age to socialize with?

For year round living, I would say either Wilmington area, Myrtle beach, or if you were dead set on living in NC, the Calabash/Shallotte area. That's put you in between Myrtle beach, and Wilmington. Close enough to get to clubs, good shopping, and social events....but far enough away to maintain a decent beachy life style without breaking the bank.

Beaufort is a quaint little village with night life, is across the other bridge from Morehead City, the first bridge takes you to Atlantic Beach.
