Question Coast Towns

I'm a single mother wanting to move to North Carolina and live close to the coast. I would like to live in a small town. The kind of town that everyone knows everyone and you don't have to worry so much about your children and their friends.

My boyfreind used to live in Brevard, if you want a small town with no crime, that's the town for you.

I will be looking for a teaching position, but I'm not so worried about that at the moment. I'm worried about my son being comfortable in his surroundings. He has selective mutism, so a small town would be best. Near the coast is not really a must, but I thought it would be more enjoyable.

Preferably less than an hour, but as I said it's not the major issue. Small town is the main goal.

Morehead city or Beaufort would be my next choice in small coastal towns for living.

Try Burgaw, Shallotte, Southport, Whiteville, Elizabethtown, Wallace, Kenansville. All in southeast NC, small traditional towns, and most have a historic downtown.
