Possibly move to Wilmington?
Whats up everybody. I am 20 and currently live in Michigan but within the next week or two going to head down to Wilson to live with some relatives. Im going to live here to settle in a bit, get some money coming in and get on my feet a bit but then I am going to move out and I have been searching for locations to head to. I am currently researching going to school, CFCC is what Im looking into right now and from looking I think Wilmington might be a good spot for me. Like I said Im 20, so I like the beach, love to party and just have a good time. Looking at places rent doesn't seem to bad, seems like I can find a 2BR apartment for ~650-800/mo at just the overall atmosphere of the place seems like it would suite someone my age well. The biggest thing I am concerned about is jobs but I feel if I just keep at it I will EVENTUALLY find something, hopefully enough to live on but I will have one friend with me so Im hoping we can make it work. Im pretty much just asking overall what is everyones opinion on this? Is this a good location for someone my age. What do people know about CFCC? Is it a good school? Thank You!

Wilmington is a nice town. It's got pretty much anything you need and there's plenty of young folk around, considering it's a college town. There's a decent bar/club scene along the water (N. Front Street). I'd suggest taking a little trip and feeling it out of if you can.

I'm also moving to Wilmington next year and planning on going to CFCC. I don't like the idea of going downtown though. What about the campus in Castle Hayne? Any feedback on that?

What about downtown are you trying to avoid? This isn't like a big city downtown...

Well it just seems like I've read bad things about downtown. Is it not as bad as people say? I briefly visited downtown, but it was during the middle of the day.

Unless you plan on walking the streets of any city late at night and are attracted to drama the chances of being a victim of a crime are slim to none.

The thing that is so nice about the North Campus is the conveniece of the parking and the newer buildings. The parking is the most annoying thing about the downtown campus but by the same token the downtown area has such a cool feel to it with the students sitting outside and the shops nearby. Depending on your major you will probably have classes at both.

I've spent many an evening downtown. It's really not that sketchy.
