Fourjoys is on a distinguished road
Default Moving to Kitty Hawk

Hi everyone,
After months (and months) of unemployment, my husband was offered a job in the Outer Banks. We are trying to determine what, if any, choices we have for areas to live. We have one son in high school, one in elementary, and two girls not in school yet.

Does anyone live in this area? Is it impossible to find a home for under 200k in either the Outer Banks area or Currituck County? How are the schools there? We are coming from a fantastic school, and it's my understanding that it's very difficult to compare schools across states.

Our main concern is for my older son. Being in high school, this is going to be a diffiicult transition for him anyway, but he is also biracial, and we are also wondering how race relations seem to be there. He is also in the JROTC program here and really likes it, and I notice that Currituck County High School offers that as well. Do any others?

Thanks for your input!
