I never thought I would see the day...........a Real, honest-to-goodness smoking ban in a big tobacco-producing state! Should have been done decades ago. But, of course, the almighty dollar has reigned supreme over the health and well-being of those who don't smoke and the little kids who have no say in the matter. As for the bars, maybe they should be exempt as no one under 21 is supposed to be there to begin with, but I am 100% for restaurants being smoke-free.

I agree. When I visited Wilmington over the summer I was shocked the first time I went to a restaurant and was asked smoking or non. New York passed the law a few years ago and I'm a fan of it. I'd prefer to enjoy my meal without a hint of smoke in the background.

I'm looking forward to going out and not coming home smelling like smoke!!! I'm honestly rather suprised that it took this long!! KY, which ranks only 2nd to NC in tobacco production, does not have a state-wide smoking ban, but many of the major cities, lexington included, has been smoke free since 04!

now if they would only make the beaches smoke free so we didn't have cigarette butts everywhere...

Agreed. Many states are jumping on the band wagon to ban smoking in such places and it's good to see.
