So I'm pondering moving from the desert to the coast, Surf City, Wilmington area, and have a few questions. I'm hoping the locals can help me out with these:

1)How is the job market? I'm in the medical field.
2)The bug and snake situation? As well as mold, mildew, fleas and the rest of that stuff us desert dwellers never think about.
3) The truth on heat and humidity. I'm used to dry, scorching heat in the summer, snow and freezing my butt off in the winter.
4)Real Estate prices and best areas to live in the aformentioned cities.
5)Are dogs allowed on the beach?
6)How's fishing there? What is the cost of a seasonal fishing license?
7) How are the elementary schools?
8)What is the average utility costs i.e. heat, A/C, sewer, trash, water, etc
9) Any other helpful information is greatly appriciated. I've lived in the Reno, NV area my entire life and have always wanted to live next to the ocean. I'm thinking it's now or never!

If you don't like mold, mildew, bugs, and humidity, Coastal NC is not your kind of place. We got it all, but you'll get used to it.
