I think I read somewhere that alligators were attracted to a scent emanating from the pores of Northerners. Had something to do with with the Northerners different cuisine of choice.

I think if you're scared of gators, then you should probably stay far away from anywhere they inhabit. But even they're not as dangerous as the coral snakes, Eastern Diamondback rattlers, and deadly spiders that are more likely to kill you in the South.

I was at Greenfield Lake, in the middle of Wilmington, last week and there was one just off the walking path.

I recently saw two at Greenfield Park - one was right by the paddle boats and right near the kayakers! Neither seemed concerned, huh.

I kayak all the time in Rice Creek, Town Creek and Lockwood Folly river. See 3 or 4 every time out, just give them room if they are moving. Most of the time they just submerge and you can go right on by them, no problems. Pretty much if you don't bug them they won't bug you.

How often do you see alligators in Leland, NC? Specifically, around Brunswick Forest and/or Magnolia and or/Waterford? Thank you for any replies.
