HI, My husband and I are looking to relocafte from WV to New Bern, NC and we would like to talk to anyone that can give us any pros or cons to the area. We also need to look for work, how is the job situation there for jobs in logging, heavy equipment operation, truck driving, or heavy construction? any advice on this area would be appreciated...thanks

If you like boating, fishing, or the beach. You will love it here. Hope you like high humidity too. Weyhuaser (sp) is the main logging company around here. I am sure they have a web site you can look up. Lots of hotel building going on around here but no much other BIG construction to speak of.

Cons - high humidity and heat 4 months of the year, our cold spells are usually short lived. Hardly any snow, a big con for me, and not much else to do around here if you do not like fishing or boating.

Sorry I do not. You can try contacting Weyerhaeuser or the New Bern employment commission. Google both.

My husband and I are also strongly considering retirement to the New Bern area. We have been looking into the Trent Woods area and (I think its called) Deerfield subdivision. Any opinions or advice?

People seem to like Trent Woods. I like the historic areas of New Bern, but there you have to take the good with the bad.
