Wink Outer Banks

Hi all,
I've never been to the NC coastline, and DH and I (darling husband) are thinking of taking off in August and winging it a bit. Is that even possible? I mean, is the whole outer banks booked solid or can a decent couple get a place near the beach for our daughter to see for the first time? She's 16months old.

Did you try renting a condo through vacations rentals? We are renting one on the beach in Carolina Beach next week.
