Default currituck county

I am really intrigued by Currituck County. Can anyone recommend any family friendly towns in the area? I'm planning to work in Virginia Beach area and commute to NC. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Also, is there a newspaper for that area? I've found the names of several towns, but I can't find much information on them. Thanks!
