What is there to do in Elizabeth City?
Hello everyone!
I'm going to be visiting Elizabeth City (from Clayton) in a few weeks. Just wondering if there was any "must see/must do" in EC or surrounding areas.

Drive the new US 17 bypass!
You can get up to 100 mph on that thing and feel like you are going 50. I don't think I have ever driven on such a spacious and wide highway that's smack dab in the middle of a huge treeless plain in my life.....certainly not NC.
For any patrolmen out there, I'm just kidding about that 100 mph thing. It does seem that way though. |

Thought because of location on map that.........
since it was conveniently located to Va Beach and Outer Banks that it might be an up and coming place to check out................Checked out and there was little or nothing to do.............at all. Not quaint, no nightlife, fairly stagnant, no jobs or growth, seemed stuck in the 30's.................very surprised since location seemed great on paper, but these folks on this forum called it absolutely correctly...............Nothing special about EC. I was disappointed...........

A great place to take a jar at night and catch lightening bugs. If you spin around in circles about 50 times you have an awesome light show.

I did figure as much though. I figure if anything, we could check out VA beach & the outer banks. |
