The PBS Market Warriors TV show
Anyone watching it? You can also watch it online at the PBS website. There have been two episodes so far.
Personally, I'm very disappointed with the four "pickers" they chose and the premise of the show.

Miller is very annoying with her whining and lack of graciousness in the way she bargains.
They don't seem to come across anything really good-they don't seem like they buy smart enough to support themselves as dealers.
The decorator is good. The kitschy guy has some gross worst of the mid-century taste. The guy from NY buys smart but his badgering style is bleccch.

I watched one episode (the one with Bakelite jewelry). They all pretty much bombed out and lost money. I don't think that there are enough people bidding at the auction. They could probably get more by selling the stuff on e-bay.
The premise of the show does seems too contrived. I would rather they just let the pickers go around the flee market and discuss why they would pick certain items instead of making arbitrary picking requirements.
But on a broader note, the antique picking, pawn shop, storage unit auctions, etc. shows are really getting out of hand. Enough already. Can't they think of something different?

It's interesting and the other posters made some good points about the people involved.
But the whole premise is backwards!
In my circle, you buy cheap at auctions.
Then sell for more on ebay (or flea markets or shops, heck, even garage sales.)
And the show proves that....these dealers are bombing big time.
Kinda fun to see the "experts" do worse than I ever did.

I don't have cable so I appreciate any shows like these I can get on PTV.
How about the dealers have to do the garage sale circuit some weekend and then put that stuff in an auction (or on ebay)...they might actually make a profit!

I had looked forward to the show but it's a loser and so are the "experts" in the show....The only interesting part was where Wes Cowan ripped on their extremely poor choices....
It could've been fun if they just hadn't used "experts" but people who know how to make a profit.....and that's Buying Cheap at Auctions and Selling For More on Ebay.

I watched the last episode and I knew that Coke clock didn't meet the age criteria. Does Miller know anything about antiques? I used to watch a BBC show that had the same premise called "Bargain Hunt."

I only get a few channels so I appreciate having something like this to watch.
The only episode I was was the bangle bracelet one and the woman who bought the armful of bracelets didn't seem very knowledgeable. The bearded guy seemed to buy what he liked and the guy who won bought what he thought others would like--and I think he was the one who made the profit.
It was a pretty good show. I really like the BBC Antiques Road Show best of all though.

I watched another episode. This show is the pits. Many of the things that put up for auction could only get a "mercy bid".
I did learn one thing though: never pick up things at a flea market, put them up for auction, and expect to make money.

You can buy things at flea markets and tag sales, then make money at auctions. I finally saw some of this show, and I don't think these "pickers" really know what they're doing.
