I don't think that it's a doorstop, although it could be used as one. Doorstops have a flat base and the back of them are also flat to snug up to a door (which is flat).
I think that your piece is just a cast iron garden ornament.

an antique sewing machine cabinet and it had a price tag on it marked 30 dollars and the girl wanted to argue with me about the price tag and I told her it is marked 30 and you are going to sell it to me for 30 . she did . also some wrought iron trellises marked 3.00 each and that was a steal as well . this particular thrift store I know cleans out old people's homes who have passed on and they get some real treasures I will tell you . whoever owned this sewing machine must have loved to sew because the sewing machine is in it and it is well oiled but needs a belt and the belt is no longer available so I will just keep it for the cabinet because my sewing machine is on top of it and I put a glass plate on top of it with stoppers . it has been well taken care of and no nicks or scratches or anything . Amazing what you can find when you look .
