I live in the Portland, Maine area. Are there any Canadians here interested in bringing down some boxes of nickels from their banks when they visit this summer?

On eBay, there are sellers offering cuff links made from US quarters, from the new series where the backs feature the different US states. So that is why I think it's about making beaver cuff links from your Canadian nickels.

from 1922-81, save for 1942-45 & 1951-54, CDN nickels were essentially mini ingots of pure nickel (.999).
btw, I found a silver nickel post-65. It had been broken out of a proof set...
You should take a look at the 1943 to 1945 Canadian Victory 5 cent coins. Made of chrome plated steel with a large V for Victory face and a triumphant burning torch.
when I was a kid, I noticed the Morse code on the coin. I thought I had discovered a secret for the ages. It spells out,
"WE WIN WHEN WE WORK WILLINGLY"
I had a rusty chrome and a tombac.
