I joined Postcrossing a while ago. I am thrilled with it! I am sending and receiving postcards from all over the world. It's free unless you wish to donate.

All you have to do is sign up and create a profile. You can specify certain types of postcards that you'd like to receive. Before sending you a postcard youre profile will be read. Most people actually read them and try to send postcards they know the recipient will enjoy.

This is also a stamp collectors paradise. If you state in your profile that you collect stamps, the sender will attach a variety to the postcard. To me, the stamps are as beautiful as the postcards.

It costs $1.15 to mail a postcard overseas, and you cannot specify America Only (which is 34-cents). You only send postcards when you feel like it, but that impacts how many your receive.

I'm enjoying Postcrossing's so much that I wanted to share it with others who might want to join.

I have post cards that in frames and hanging on the wall. They make nice decorations. Some are reproductions of national park posters from the 30s, others that I bought at the Imperial War Museum in London depict WW1 posters. Another set was hand painted by a relative when she lived in Florence Italy and show the sights of Florence.

Thanks for the announcement of this endeavor . One that I'm sure will have some unique designs!
My brother served and traveled in the military. He has close to 4 shoeboxes filled with these treasures. He collected them from towns...And loved receiving some too! He is retired now..So he doesn't desire to travel as much, but I'm sure he would consider some more involvement in this hobby.
Thanks again and enjoy some of the treasures!

Hi Javacoffee! This sounds like something my grandson would enjoy, but he's only seven. Since he is a child of these times he knows how to do the computer part, but I couldn't find anything on the website addressing age requirements. Do you happen to know? Thanks for the letting us know about this website.

Rainydayparis, I just sent a postcard to a 2-year-old. His mom makes it clear in her profile that they are really for her son. I geared my response to the toddler rather than to the adult. The only bad part was that I didn't have a cartoon postcard or something else a child would enjoy. I'm new. I'm still working on the details. LOL.

So, yes. Go sign up. Fill out our Profile to reflect the desires of your grandson. People will love and respect that.

My mom used to collect postcards but they were probably thrown out years ago.
