The official thread for discussion of Florida football. Are there any other Gator fans here?

right here. a win is a win I guess, but barely beating bad teams makes me nervous. o-line is horrible, and harris sucks. too indecisive which makes him take a lot of sacks. however, 10-1 is still 10-1.

I went to the game yesterday, first visit to the swamp

had a great time, the campus is lovely, with some very English type architecture , people very friendly, access in and out and parking all good.

the food was ok, seats good (we were in the south end zone)

espn says attendance was 90000, now way, I would say 2/3 full....noise at the end was amazing.

Ok to the game. First half was awful, Harris is dire and the offense stunk...I think they had 69 yards total.

second half the fumble recovery finally kicked them into gear, and at 14-0 it should have been game over. I think the Defense gave the O possession inside the red zone 3 times- result zero points. shocking. to their credit Atlantic never gave up and to be fair looked the better team.

It was obvious the receivers were one on one a lot and the second TD came as a result of Harris finally realizing it. even in the final 2 minutes Gators had 2 chances in the red zone and made 0 yards.

Oh and they missed two gimme FGs

in OT Harris finally went back to Magee who he had ignored all the second half and he made a great play for the go ahead only to see the extra point (awful kick) blocked.

even then it wasn't over as the owls went 1st and goal from the 9 but 4 great plays by the defense saved the day.

FAU won most of the stats except turnovers, if the Gators Offense was as good as the D they would be worth a top 4 shot, as it is they are so bad I can see them maybe even dropping a spot. On that form Bama will murder them.

so after a 15 hour day, great time, exciting finish, and if McElwain can find a QB they could be a real contender. Harris has jittery feet and scrambles too easily and his throwing and ball protection on the run are horrible

It is what it is. Throwing up a clunker like that and still getting a "W" beats the alternative.

I 100% agree. either florida's schedule was super easy, or they've got a nasty habit of playing to the level of their competition. I also can't figure out why the tight ends seem to totally disappear in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

It certainly wasn't pretty, but McElwain is now the first coach in school history to win 10 games in his first season. Hopefully next week being a rivalry will provide some greatly needed motivation.

I was thinking they'd be lucky to win 8 games this season, so I a glad they've done much better. I would just like to see them better offensively. but the reality is that they're 1 trick field goal away from being undefeated.

17-point underdog today. Still, it's good to be in the SEC Championship game again. Go Gators!
