Once the conference start realining it made a huge difference in the shedules with a few conferences having very tough schedules to get thru. That is why they are the teams that are making the huge revenues how. Mnay of the SEC conference teams for example could compepte for a 12-0 win record in most conference3 along with a few others. agone are the days when say ND plays a few hard game and breezes to a national championship.

It gets a little silly when you have mediocre bowl games scheduled on Dec24 or 26th; I can only imagine the lack of interest in watching two average teams compete in a contest no one cares about, around the same time as our nation's most celebrated holiday...just pointless...

I hear you. I've also wondered why there isn't a game on the Christmas day, too.

Seriously, if people don't like the second tier bowl games, don't watch them. For the rest of us who love bowl season, more the merrier.

The Aloha Bowl used to be played on Christmas Day

I think Christmas Day has become the ESPN overhyped NBA matchup day.

Didn't there used to be another Christmas Day game besides the Aloha Bowl? Blue-Gray Game??

Also, last night's Southern Miss/Louisville was a decent game - and I think it "mattered" to the teams involved, too.

I think you're right. There certainly was another game and I think it was the Blue-Gray Classic. I used to get a kick out of seeing the players helmets with different school stickers...Syracuse with a GaTech sticker.

You're right! I do remember seeing the helmets with about 15-20 different logos all squeezed together. That game was, a lot of times, the only opportunity to see players from smaller schools play - way back in the day when we only got 3 channels!
