95 Nebraska is the greatest team I ever saw period. Nebraska also had great run from 94-97 were they one 3 out 4 national championships.(all of them undefeated by the way, something the recent Alabama teams didn't do.). People always "talking SEC" "SEC", that Nebraska team kicked florida's ass all over the field in the 95 fiesta bowl, and destoyed a tennesse team that had Peyton manning in 97. The 94 team beat a miami team that Ray Lewis and warren sapp on it to win the national championship. I had to go back and look at some if there highlights on YouTube to remember how dominate they were.

SEC! SEC!

Because that was 1994 and this is the last decade we're talkin about.

95 Nebraska is the the GOAT for sure. the 01 hurricanes aren't even the best team of that decade. Both 05 USC and Texas beat them IMO.

A first round pick who could have had a great NFL career. I credit Dick Vermeil to giving Philips a second chance to play with the Rams despite all his issues at Nebraska. He lasted all of a season and a half in the NFL and he was damn lucky to play in the Canadian Football League as Canada normally is tough on people immigrating in when you have a criminal record, especially with the one Philips had and then added to later when his football career ended.

I know this is discussing 95 team but I think Penn State in 94 certainly got the National Title shaft when Nebraska won that year....

I could see Nebraska entering into this discussion, but a team like the 2001/2 Canes would have murdered USC and Texas. It was 34-0 at the half -- it was so one-sided that it's obvious that Miami came out with less intensity in the second half, which allowed Nebraska to get on the board late. In fact if there's one weakness that the Canes had that year, it was their 2nd half coaching. They would jump out to three or four touchdown leads and gradually allow teams to make it competitive in a few cases (the Va Tech game comes to mind). The intensity just wasn't there under Coker. Didn't matter, though, because Butch Davis had already built that team and given it an identity. They probably would have enough to beat the 1995 Huskers, and they'd definitely take down the USC Trojans of 2004 and the Horns of 2005.

I'm surprised that 2009 Alabama hasn't garnered any more consideration. They're the best championship team since the SEC started their run, and navigated a much tougher schedule than either 01 Miami or 95 Nebraska. I'm not saying that the '09 Bama team would definitely beat either of those two teams, but the SEC in 09 might have been their strongest overall year, and Bama still went undefeated.

Between 95 Neb and 01 Canes, I'd pick the 'skers by a TD. They wouldn't dominate Miami like they dominated everyone in 95, but I think they're still a slightly better team. 01 Miami is almost certainly one of the five greatest CFB teams ever, though.

It's certainly debatable, but I'd probably take last year's Crimson Tide over the team that won in 2009. Fully aware of the case for the 2009 team, which beat defending champion Florida in the SEC title game. However, I think of that nasty offensive line from last year and Eddie Lacy in the backfield, and a more wide-open passing game. I'd probably take the 2012 offense for sure. The defensive edge goes to the 2009 team, but last year's team was pretty good, too.
