Assuming the A and M to the SEC rumors are true... who got the better deal btw the Big East taking TCU and the SEC taking A and M?
Big East got the better end of the deal. Yeah the addition of A&M to the SEC makes more geographic sense and yes, A&M is a much bigger draw than TCU, but right now the Horned Frogs have the better football program.
Yea right now, but its stupid to think that TAMU will suck for perpetuity. With Mike Sherman and their recruiting territory, they will be fine.
Plus they have a MUCH larger alumni base nationwide and especially statewide in Texas which can create an even larger bandwagon effect.
I applaud what TCU has done and hope they continue but there is a ceiling to how much of a fanbase they can likely amass.
Provided that TAMU comes in and competes within a few years, TAMU is a much better snag. TAMU is but one more feather in a cap already ripe with plumage.
TCU is likely gonna lord over the Big East like Alabama did the SEC in the 70s unless some program(s) take a MAJOR step forward.
Football-wise, TCU is a more major addition to a struggling Big East than Texas A&M is to an already stacked SEC. While TCU should be in the top tier of the Big East almost instantly, A&M would fit historically in the middle of the road in the SEC, 6th or 7th.

What makes you think AM will improve? They are already a bad program that is moving to a tougher conference. The best athletes in Texas still prefer other teams namely UT and Oklahoma. And to make things worse, TCU, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State have bit into their recruiting base. They are just going to become a door mat in the SEC because they won't get their guaranteed wins over easy Big 12 opponents sans Texas and Oklahoma. Sorry but Texas AM is a dead program that's riding on Bear Bryant's coattails but it has not been a good program for a long time and will only get worse now that it is moving to the SEC. TAMU is moving to the SEC for money and money alone make no mistake, they aren't moving there to improve their record or improve their recruiting.
TCU is a much bigger acquisition. They are a better team and are located in one of the best television sports markets in the country in Dallas. Unlike Texas AM, TCU will improve.

The SEC just got another whipping boy with A&M like they did with Arky, plus a recruiting window into Texas.
If TCU continues to develop it's program, then they will do well in the Big East.
RE-develop. Again, this isn't the first time TCU had one of the top (FBS) football programs in the country and seen in the natonal stage like Boise State. Also, TCU's rebirth has been going on for a decade now...

Dallas-Fort Worth Market.
I know it's small and you don't see a big deal with it, but as a natve of Fort Worth, I have to say it...

IF the Big East eventually includes Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State then TCU would suddenly be a good geographic fit rather than an outlier. I think the Big 10 will raid several NYC market Big East teams and the Big East will drop the non football schools. That would have Big "East" country being no further east (or north) than Pittsburgh.
Also, wouldn't it be funny if the ACC implodes and Miami ends up back in the Big East?
For one thing, TCU's in the southern central part of the 48 states. Either way, it's the same distance they have to travel. Either way, they have to go outside of their conference. And it's not like it makes any more sense to be in the Mountain West.... How many mountains do you see in North Texas?
Besides, it's not gonna matter much in the future anyway. The way we're headed, you may expect to see Oklahoma in the Big Ten (B1G).
