College Football Games Delayed by Rain (Texas)

I'm a 66-year-old broad and Oklahoma State Cowboy fan since the late 1960's. In all those years I don't recall much about college football games delayed by storms. Two weeks ago there were games delayed or called because of rain. Yesterday's Baylor game was called in the third quarter and the OSU-Tulsa game didn't start until after midnight Central Time. Even here on the west coast, that's a little late to stay up watching the whole game. Fortunately my 'boys won without me.

It's been an unusual weather year all over the country and now it's affecting college football. Do you remember other times when Mother Nature has picked on the game?

Was it just rain? They call/delay for thunder/lightning here....

I watched the Texas Tech vs New Mexico game yesterday and the game was delayed twice due to lightning in Albuquerque. It took like 5 hours to complete the game. The first time they stopped the game you could see the lightning nearby so it made sense. When they stopped the second time there didn't seem to be much of a threat. They announced during the game that lightning within 6 miles of the stadium would cause the game to be delayed. I can see the game being stopped if there is lightning close by, say within a couple of miles of the stadium or so. Delaying a game due to lightning six miles away is a bit of an over-reaction IMHO.

It was the lightning part of the storm, not the rain. Don't know why I said rain. Maybe it's that "old broad" thing.
