Let's just go ahead and call this November 5 match up between these two SEC titans what it truly is: the REAL national college football championship.

Now, the question is, who is going to win? Both have stifling defenses. Both are hard to throw against and relatively hard to run against. Bama might be slightly better up front and LSU might have the better secondary. LSU has statistically given up more points but they've probably played superior offenses, having played both Oregon and West Virginia, though Bama did play Arkansas and manhandled them, and the Razorbacks are a legitimate top ten team.

On offense, both teams can throw the deep ball. LSU has a two-headed monster at QB, and they're offense is comfortable running both types of offenses. LSU's receivers might also have a distinct advantage that Bama does not: size. Rueben Randle is a strong, physical receiver, who will probably be a little tougher for Bama's DB's to defend, but then again, Bama did extremely well against what might be the best passing attack in the nation in Arkansas. Both teams can establish the run and are very deep in the backfield. LSU's offensive line is great, Alabama's appears to be pretty doggone good as well.

A very even match-up. The home crowd will be tough in 3rd down situations, and that could be a key difference, especially as the game moves into the second half and possessions become more critical. In terms of talent and in terms of mental toughness and being tested already, I would probably give that edge to LSU. Hard game to call, but I would probably take the Tigers in a very close game.

If the game's good enough, then the NCAA should consider a rematch for the BCS title game.

That is definitely going to be an even match-up. Even though Alabama will have home field advantage, I'll take LSU in a very close one.

I must root for LSU. That's where my Dr went to school and I need him in a good humor.

I will be pulling for Alabama (my brother's alum). I will pick them in a close win over LSU.

Think I'll go with LSU, but by no more than a touchdown.
