And he would probably accept the offer...

Peterson seems more Pac-12 than SEC to me... Although I think he is the best coaching candidate in the country. If A&M gets him they will win a SEC title in 5 years. And maybe even a national title in that time... He's that good! That would be scary for the rest of the SEC if he goes to A&M...

He has a really good deal where he's at, and odds are they are going to eventually be in a major conference within the next few years. I think he wouldn't be given free reign at some of these bigger schools.

I would also consider Gary Patterson if I were A&M.

But I'm pretty sure his chances of leaving (unless for a huge payday) are zero to none. Especially since TCU will be in the big 12 next year...

Something weird is going on cyclone... we are actually thinking the same way.

I had just said the same thing...

I think it's a smart move. New conf... They should start fresh. I would suggest Kevin Sumlin from Houston or Gary Patterson from TCU... Patterson is prob unlikely to leave though... But if I were AD I would still try.

There are lots of bad teams in the SEC. I know the top of the SEC has been the best for a few years, but the mid and bottom is not good.

Though there are a lot of possibilities-
A&M needs an experienced SEC coach. Especially one that understands the idiosyncrasies of recruiting the SE.
It's unfortunate that Urban pulled the trigger so fast- he could have easily been A&M's Godsend.

Must be a mind reader?
The facts are- all collegiate coaches are willing to negotiate the highest dollar amount possible. And they certainly have ridiculous clauses in those contracts. A&M will have to fork over almost 6mil to Sherman.
As the old saying goes, BULLS#!T walks, MONEY TALKS!

And, as history would have it- A&M was the first university to pay a million/yr contract- Jackie Sherrill.
