The Richmond Spiders.

They would dominate that conference and put the beat down on lowly LSU and Alabama year in and year out. The SEC west would be too easy for them. They need a new conference where they play only the following teams: OU, Ohio State, USC, LSU, Oregon, Alabama, Texas, Florida State, Miami, and the New England Patriots.

They would totally dominate that conference and go undefeated every year.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, it doesn't.

Are there more fitting teams that could have been added, or at least considered?
Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
NC State
UNC
Virginia Tech
Clemson
Florida State
South Florida
Louisville
West Virginia
Georgia Southern
USC-Salkehatchie's intramural squad

If you feel there are better fits out there, which team SHOULD have been added instead, in place of Missouri?
any of the above.

I do not think Texas A&M and Missouri belong in the SEC.

If I were Michael Slive, I would have invited Texas and Oklahoma to join the SEC since the future for Big 12 is still uncertain.

I can imagine the excitement of more competition in the SEC with both Longhorns and Sooners. TV Markets in Austin including major Texas cities and Okla. City will certainly bring in more revenues for us.

You don't think TA&M belongs but Texas does?

Historically, Texas Longhorns has been the best college football team in the state; I feel they have the caliber of being in the SEC compared to TX A&M. No offense.

Other choices for the SEC could be Virginia Tech and maybe North Carolina or Duke University (TV Market of the Triangle could be beneficial along with a good basketball program).

The SEC already has Florida and South Carolina so we don't need either Clemson or Florida State. It's best to have only one team from each state for recruiting purposes.

I doubt West Virginia and other teams listed in the poll can compete well in the SEC. The SEC doesn't need any more mediocre teams since we already have them in MS, KY, and Vanderbilt.

The Sooners did get an invite in Summer 2010 when Nebraska/Colorado left the Big XII, but OU declined because the SEC would not take Oklahoma State bundled with the Sooners.

OU Pres. David Boren shared this the other day with some local reporters that were talking about realignment.

Oklahomans are not like Texans (*cough* A&M/Longhorns) who will leave their wingman and disgrace their state!

I think one of the big problems was A&M was always in the shadow of UT. It was always viewed as "UT's little brother" in the state-- in both academics, and sports. This pissed those aggies off.

While I don't think anyone believes OSU is "OU's little brother." And it certainly isn't in the shadow of OU. Academics at OSU and OU aren't separated by much-- but obviously their sports success are world's apart.

Anyway, I think it is clear to everyone in this thread that the SEC should have added Georgia Southern. But I'm not sure LSU and Florida could handle losing to Georgia Southern every year. In every sport.
Another good choice for the SEC would have been the Sam Houston State Bearcats! But that team would have dominated the conference too.
Or maybe they should have added the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves...
