thanks, pan. i didn't take it seriously. my concern was that my main idea had been lost in some notion that the private universities had morphed into some form of The Terminator and that somehow Stanford would smash LSU 49-0 in the BCS championship (49 being a good number for a Bay Area team).

With you on the SWC. We could use a conference like that. The sport is so big and so spread out that Nebraska belongs with Penn State, Missouri with Florida, BC with Miami, USC with Colorado, etc.

What's lost? Well, the exact opposite. The intimate little Texas style club (ok, with UArk, too) that was all in the family.

It's like that great commercial for Smart: BIG, BIG, BIG, BIG, BIG...small.....small
