I agree with this.

Ironically, according to this article by Yahoo! columnist Dan Wetzel, the SEC president also agrees with this and proposed the plus-one formula back in 2008.

SEC reaps reward of rejected playoff plan - College Football - Rivals.com

It was rejected by all of the other conferences except for ACC, which voiced some support for it. At the time, the SEC president was still bummed that the undefeated 2004 Auburn Tigers didn't get a shot to beat either USC or OU, which pushed him to develop the plus one concept. The Big 10, Big 12, and even the Pac 10 rejected it because they saw their bowl dollars at risk and they also thought they had a great shot at being represented in the BCS game, provided that they win out their conference.

My how the dynamics have changed. In that time, the SEC has proven to be so dominant that they are essentially recognized as the super conference of college football. The SEC wins the biggest games. The SEC gets the biggest and best recruits. The SEC has a great television contract with CBS. And now, it's set to expand. The SEC isn't recruiting other teams; other teams are leaving their conference to join the SEC. The BCS has destroyed other leagues, but it has ironically been great for the one conference that proposed a little something different.

Maybe they'll rethink that opposition now?

Stanford beat USC, not ranked but they upset a lot of teams and have a winning season with only 2 losses.
It is a DISGRACE these conversations are even going on. What kind of sport allows voters to determine a championship? This is beyond an embarrassment to anyone who gives a damn about these money hungry power driven universities. Until there is a playoff ...NOBODY wins,....what a JOKE!

Oklahoma is vastly overrated... if not preseason #1 then they wouldnt be ranked either!

Kansas State is vastly overrated... almost lost to Iowa State at home!

The only 2 good teams in the Big 12 are OK State and Baylor... and Baylor is not a top 10 team. Maybe top 20. The Big 12 as a whole does not have an impressive out of conference win... the best is against Florida State! All their ranked opponents are EACH OTHER!!!

The Big 12 is overrated... I HOPE they get some SEC or even some Big 10 teams to play in bowl games. Cause that flag football that the Big 12 plays will not work against teams that actually play defense.

This argument is so tired. Ok State has more quality wins, whether you think those wins weren't quality or not. Their strength of schedule was much tougher than Bama. Besides, if you think that they are only playing "flag football" in the Big XII, well that's just a childish statement.

Is LSU the best team in the country? I think they are. Is Alabama? NO.

Let's see two teams go at it that haven't played; let's see an EXCITING matchup, not two teams that have already played in what was frankly a BORING game.

Alabama had their chance AT HOME and couldn't cut the mustard.

And all this crap about the teams that OSU playing no longer being as highly ranked. I think OSU had something to do with taking those teams down a notch or two.

Bottom line is that OSU's SOS was/IS much toured than Alabama's and they are both one loss teams. If you think Bama (or even LSU for that matter would have curb stormed OU like OSU did last night, well, that is just pure SEC rose colored glasses you're peering through.

Bama had their shot. OSU proved they deserve to play in the NC game last night.

LOL outside of Alabama, Arkansas, and LSU-- the SEC has NO ONE of any signficance.

Hell, Georgia lost to BOISE STATE. They suck!

Big 12 has a ton of good teams this year-- all around it is a better conference. Only an SEC homer would think like you do...

Exactly, outside of Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas-- they suck.

You can't have a good all-around conference if you only have 3 good teams.

The SEC is more top heavy than ever. 1 & 2(debatable), and then two decent teams Ark & Georgia. Then nothing.....

South Carolina number 12, georgia number 14. Yeah 5 teams in the top 20, and three in the top 10. Yeah the Sec SUCKS. Not to mention the fact that they have been national champions 5 out of the last 6 years.

Judging by the reaction on other sports blogs, it is clearly the consensus that the majority of people would prefer to see an LSU-- OK STATE matchup.

Alabama-Lsu rematch would be another rockem sockem game----but, been there---seen that. Lsu-- Ok state would be a good matchup of contrasts.
