NCAA Football 12, is great game, I run the base 3-3-5 defense! Can anyone tell me what the 3-3-5 Nickel is design to do? What formations it's great against? Thank you!

personally i think the 3-3-5 is good against the spread offense, but ideal against spread option teams which focus on running and misdirection.

it doesn't work so well against direct running attacks, like the I-Formation. You need some seriously beefy D linemen to stop the run.

Because you need such run-oriented DL, you also need to find a way to get pressure on the QB.

in "real life" the 3-3-5 can be confusing to block, due to all the different LB's and DB's flying around. It has a lot in common with the 3-4, in the sense that there's a lot of movement and disguising of coverage by the defense. Not really the sort of defense to use if you want vanilla schemes; it is important to blitz often and switch things up.
