After 5 weeks, and how mediocre the West teams look (LSU's win over Miami isn't that impressive anymore, even at home at night I doubt this LSU team is beating them, Auburn ain't beating them this year) nobody else in the West is beating them. I know its still relatively early, but right now I'd give Georgia & Ohio State the 2 teams most likely to defeat them this year, with Ohio State the best chance. I think Bama rolls through the SEC
Well this OSU team isn't the best and yes Georgia at east might be able to compete for 2-3 quarters but I think that's about it. No way LSU can stay with this Bama team even if that QB keeps getting better.

Yeah, think back on the Alabama/Auburn games. The ones Auburn usually win are usually on their home field and the crazy lucky plays happen. The ball bouncing off a helmet and right into their hands for a touchdown and all that craziness. On the flip side of that, when Alabama wins it is usually a complete and thorough thrashing. I don't think enough craziness can happen this year plus it is on Alabama's field. Most likely this year will be a 30 point pummeling.

Huge suck alert from Auburn today.

Looks like the fate of SEC West domination over the lowly SEC East rests in the wary hands of LSU against #2 Georgia coming up shortly.

I don't see LSU beating the odds here, but... That's why we play the game.

So, I saw an article in USA today this afternoon (yesterday maybe??) that said the SEC could get 3 teams into the playoffs. Pretty far-fetched if you ask me (especially considering the scenario's I'll list below for it to have happen), but the crux of it was basically:
LSU beat Georgia (correct)
LSU beat Alabama to win the West (probably not happening)
Georgia beat Florida & Kentucky to win the East (maybe happening but don't sleep on Florida or UK)
Georgia beat LSU in the SEC championship game (won't happen because LSU ain't losing to Bama)
Washington winning the Pac 12, but losing a game on the way (check that off after Oregon beats them in OT). That takes the Pac 12 out of the mix I think because I just don't see Oregon making the playoff, and everyone else now is officially out, and yes even Colorado, sorry Buffs fans.
Ohio State finishes undefeated and wins the Big 10.
Miami doesn't lose again, and beats Clemson in the ACC championship game.
Everyone in the Big 12 has at least 1 loss heading to the Big 12 championship game.
Notre Dame loses somewhere along the way.

In that scenario, Ohio State would be in, and Alabama, after the precedent was set by Ohio State in 2016 & Alabama last year they would be in. Georgia, by virtue of winning the SEC would be the 3rd team in, and the second from the SEC. Then for the 4th spot you are left between the Big 12 champion (neither of those teams has a great schedule), Miami (1 loss, but got crushed by LSU, not a great schedule), Clemson (1 loss, but a pretty bad schedule), Notre Dame (as I said in the other thread I don't care what cache ND has, they have a 0% chance of making the playoff with more than 0 losses, plus that loss would be a bad loss), and an LSU team which does have 2 losses, but would've played maybe the toughest schedule in the country, and compared to all of those teams I think even with the 2 losses, LSU would have the strongest case.

Thought provoking.

What if Kentucky beats Georgia and goes the distance?

Intriguing question. I think Alabama would still get in even losing to Kentucky and UK would have to settle for the consolation Orange/Fiesta/Sugar Bowl. I'm not sure how much UK can help itself. Georgia by virtue of losing to Kentucky would have 2 losses, and Florida assuming they lose to Georgia would have 2 losses, so those 2 wins would be undervalued slightly, and outside of Georgia their toughest opponent left on the schedule is who?? Missouri?? Tennessee??

That's 3 top 10 teams LSU has beaten this year, toughest schedule in college and they have done well. A lot of SEC teams would be in the final 4 if we didn't whoop each other up all season long, lol.

Right. That was one of the main premises I started the thread on.
