So is playing the Alabama the equivalent of playing in the Super Bowl or championship game?? If you lose your season is over anyways. Really, how else can you explain LSU??
Pretty much. Ask any team in the SEC with Alabama what their "big game" is, most will answer with Alabama.
They are the ones to beat in the division. They are the "team to beat".

"Alabama is the measuring stick,” Finebaum said. “Ole Miss—it wasn’t about, 'Well are we going to beat State or LSU?' It’s, 'How are we going to beat Alabama?' At LSU it’s the same thing. At Mississippi State, they’re not successful until they beat Alabama. Auburn obsesses over Alabama.”
The SEC has won 7 of the last 10 championships, 5 being from the SEC West and the other 2 being Florida of the SEC East.
Now let's talk about those last two losses over the last two years. Alabama was right there losing to eventual winner Ohio State Buckeyes, who blasted the Oregon Ducks. The year before that, Auburn, who lost to Florida State by a whole bunch, right?
So, you could say that the SEC West was heavily involved with 7 of the last 10, and the SEC as a whole, 9 of the last 10, not to mention strength of schedule, blah blah blah...
Oh looky here, now that you mention TCU, they actually have their own thread going on in here. What are TCU honks saying about their team these days?

It appears that the Mississippis of the SEC West are but mere tune-ups for the other upper echelons of the West. But don't that Arkansas look like a dangerous Bowl Game? Maybe TCU or Baylor can play against them! That would be fun.

I a fully aware that alabama was awarded several games they did not belong in. name another example of a team coming in second place in the division within their conference and getting a rematch of a 9-6 game. here's my version of history.
2006- florida. legit
2007- LSU. legit
2008- florida. legit with some questions.
2009- alabama. legit, but let's face it, colt mccoy didn't play. alabama was simply the team that was better than the team with garrett gilbert as quarterback. bama looked like complete trash on offense, so it's a good thing gilbert gave them 4 interceptions.
2010- auburn. legit except for cam newton being a disgraced gator that was kicked off the team. seriously, auburn has major chub when it comes to recruiting QB's that were kicked off of SEC east teams.
2011- alabama. this game will go down in history as the biggest sham in college football history. LSU beat alabama. it was stanford or oklahoma state's turn.
2012- alabama. legit I suppose. however the argument could have been made for florida, who like alabama the year before, was held out of the conference championship game. florida had 1 loss, and a better resume than alabama.
Seemed like a game until the idiotic Tigers drew a 30 yard penalty.
Morons.
