former LSU quarterbacks update
Remember the LSU bowl game embarrassment against Alabama and that LSU's coach refused to try changing quarterbacks? The one he kept in the game is on a Canadian football team as 5th string quarterback behind one 40 years old and one on injured reserve. Jarrett Lee, the one not put in the game, is making a good preseason showing playing for the Chargers.

Jarrett Lee should have gotten a chance to play in the NC game vs. Alabama. They couldn't move the ball at all with Jefferson in that game. Who knows; throwing Lee in there could have provided a spark. When the offense was so anemic (not entirely Jefferson's fault) you gotta do SOMETHING to change the course of the game.
Don't know if you're a Ragin Cajuns fan, but that bowl game versus SDSU was exciting. That long field goal to win the game; wow. I was happy for the ULL fans. First bowl game in school history and they packed the Super Dome. Glad it ended with a "W".

His football career might be over; but he's probabaly doing fine with what he got from the Titans.

I have trouble with my hearing and I had to cover my ears from my wife screaming watching the ULL vs San Diego bowl game. It was a great matched bowl game. Love it when a bowl game is tight down to the last minute. Hate blow out bowl games. We're hoping for a repeat. Thanks to my work schedule, there's only one home game I can attend. Work rotating shifts at the hospital. It's rare that their games are televised.

I hear not. He blew most of that supposedly.
I would have liked to hit up the Nawlins Bowl and see that ULaLa-SDSU match. Looked as good on TV as I thought it did on paper...

From Ryan Perriloux's Wikipedia page
After going undrafted in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings invited Perrilloux to tryout for the team. He was later signed by the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League. On January 13, 2011, Perriloux was signed to a reserve/future contract with the New York Giants. On September 3, 2011, he was cut from the Giants' roster. He was re-signed the same day to the practice squad. He was released from the practice squad on September 17, and was re-signed again on September 23. Perrilloux was waived again on September 28. He was re-signed to the practice squad on October 8, but released again on October 12, only to be re-signed again on October 17.[25] He was released from the practice squad again on November 2, 2011 [26] and signed to the practice squad again on November 11, 2011 before being released once again on November 26, 2011.[27]

No doubt, Jordan Jefferson is not an NFL-caliber quarterback, but Jarrett Lee was given plenty of opportunities to prove himself worthy of being the starter and never could produce respectable numbers. In Jefferson's absence, the Studrawa was successful in helping Lee become a game manager, but at no time was he the guy who was going to lead LSU to a come-from-behind victory. Let's not forget that the reason Lee lost his starting job in the first place was because he was eaten alive by Alabama's defense in the first match-up during the regular season.
People want to blame Jefferson, and fair enough, he obviously deserves a lot of it being that he was the starter. However, the real problem was the game plan. Studrawa was convinced that Alabama was susceptible to the running game based on what they saw in Alabama's late-season tussle with Georgia Southern. So he basically programmed Jefferson and the LSU backfield to carry the load with a passing option that never gave Jefferson the option to go long on 1st or 2nd downs. Jefferson got frustrated and made some mistakes in the second half, but the coaching staff basically gave him the option of either trying to innovate on busted plays or to keep taking lost yardage.
People say that Lee would have given them the answer, but I seriously doubt that's the case, and it's because of the play calling. In fact the fact that they didn't bring in Lee proves that the coaching staff had no plan B -- it was run, run/option, and occasionally throw long, which was very predictable for the Crimson Tide D. They became even more predictable when they went 2nd and long, and 3rd and longer. And considering that Jefferson is the more mobile quarterback, I don't see how Lee would have functioned any better in a run-based offensive scheme.
