The Sugar Bowl will be the site of the new SEC-Big 12 Champions bowl.

Sugar Bowl in New Orleans to be site of marquee Big 12-SEC game - ESPN

The other finalist to host the game was the Cotton Bowl and I think this is absolutely the right choice. New Orleans is much more fun to visit than Dallas/Arlington and the Sugar Bowl is a great event. The Super Dome is conveniently located near the French Quarter so people can easily walk to entertainment before and after the game.

I think the Cotton Bowl will be included as one of the six semi-final venues for the playoffs, so it will still improve its relative statute compared to how things are with the BCS.

Champions Bowl ROFL. Hilarious name given that the SEC Champion will most likely never play in that game.

This should be alternated between the East (Atlanta) and the West (Arlington) end to make this a 50/50 deal. Who cares about the surroundings/things to do at New Orleans? The most important thing is the game. And as is usual of many big bowl games, the East-Enders will have an advantage with this game in their backyard....especially if it is LSU (a very likely opponent given Bammer will be in the top 4 most years.)

Bob Bowlsby said it will be called the "Sugar Bowl." Exciting, I know.
